MATT HOPE (Performer) grew up in Boise, Idaho where he started dancing at the American Festival Ballet (now Ballet Idaho). He went on to dance with many classical and contemporary companies including Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and the Ballet Idaho/Eugene Ballet. Matt has performed works by many notable choreographers including David Parsons, Daniel Ezralow, Twyla Tharp, James Kudelka, and Lynn Taylor Corbett. For the past ten years Matthew has worked for Ballet Idaho/Eugene Ballet as a dancer choreographer, and teacher. He also danced with choreographer Amy O’Brien in NYC and Boise. Matthew travels throughout the North and Mid West teaching Ballet and Modern dance. In 2003 and 2004 Matthew was the Children’s Rehearsal Director of Ballet Idaho’s production of The Nutcracker working with over 150 children. Mathew was also the Artist in Residence at Ballet Idaho teaching their Learning Through Dance program at many different Idaho public schools. As a choreographer, Matthew has created works for Ballet Idaho, Idaho Dance theater, Drop Dance Collective, Balance Dance Company, and for many other organizations. In 2004 Matthew received a Fellowship from the Idaho Commission on the Arts for his contributions as an artsist. Matthew relocated to Portland in July of 2005 where he performs with BodVox and teaches Ballet and Modern throughout the Portland area.
