Elizabeth Burden (Teaching Artist) began her dance training at the age of 7 with Joan Shelton Mason in Wenatchee WA. Upon moving to Portland she continued her training with Jaqueline Schumacher, and then with Barbara Remington. Elizabeth was granted a scholarship to study in New York with the Joffrey School, then was offered a job with Pacific Ballet Theatre as an apprentice. Elizabeth danced with PBT, then became a founding member of Oregon Ballet Theatre where she danced for 12 years. Performance highlights were Snow Pas with Daniel Kirk and Arabian in James Canfields Nutcracker, 1st and 2nd Violin in Balanchine's Concerto Borrocco, Paul Taylor's Cloven Kingdom, Bebe Miller's A Certain Depth of Heart, and Jamey Hampton's Wild Man. Elizabeth was one of the original members of the BodyVox collaboration with Portland Opera's Carmina Burana. She toured with the group to LA and Oklahoma then had the opportunity to dance the lead with Christopher Demelier in Costa Mesa. Elizabeth has also danced with the Skinner/Kirk and Bielemeier ensemble presented by White Bird. Elizabeth has been teaching ballet for 9 years at New Vision Dance Center in Hillsboro and truly loves working with the kids. She is excited and thrilled to a part of the BodyVox vision of bringing dance to all children.
