Artistic Director

A native of Connecticut, Ashley began her dance training at the Alvin Ailey and David Howard studios in New York, with further studies at North Carolina School of the Arts. In 1983 she joined MOMIX Dance Theater as a dancer and choreographer. In 1987 she co-founded ISO Dance, creating over thirty pieces for the company and touring to five continents.

Artistic Director

Jamey Hampton was born in Portland, Oregon, where he began his dance training in the burgeoning modern dance scene of the early 1970's. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1976 with a BFA degree in Drama. He joined Pilobolus Dance Theater in 1978, setting off for his first tour to the Indian sub-continent. He has danced with Tasndy Beal and Company, Crowsnest, was an original member of Momix, and in 1987 co-founded ISO Dance.

Bodyvox

Director of BodyVox-2 / BodyVox / Teacher

 Zachary began his training with the legendary dancer George Zoritch in his native Tucson, Arizona. He continued his training as a full scholarship student with The National Ballet School in Toronto, Ontario. He has performed a wide variety of principal roles as a dancer in Oregon Ballet Theater, Minnesota Dance Theater, and Ballet West. His repertoire includes works by Balanchine, Taylor, Van Manen, Tudor, and many others.

Originally from Muncie, Indiana, Eric Skinner has been working on the West Coast as both a performer and choreographer for the past twenty years.

BodyVox / Teacher / Studio Class Manager

Heather trained on scholarship at Rock School of Pennsylvania Ballet and at 14 became a Ballet Major at the University of Utah where she earned her BFA. Heather has danced with Utah Ballet and Ballet West performing classic ballets as well as works by George Balanchine and Paul Taylor. Before leaving Salt Lake, Heather was an administrator and instructor at the School of Ballet West.

BodyVox / Tour Manager

Although based in Portland Oregon, Daniel Kirk has extensive performance experience both nationally and internationally. His technique ranges from classical ballet to contemporary to innovative theatrical and aerial work.

BodyVox / Marketing Manager

Jonathan has performed with BodyVox, BodyVox-2, Josie Moseley Dance, tEEth, POV, Polaris Dance Theatre, Rainbow Dance Theatre and The Portland Opera.   He has worked in Marketing and Programming for White Bird in Portland, Oregon and The Joyce Theater in New York City.  He currently works as the Marketing Manager for BodyVox. He enjoys gardening, snowboarding, disc golf, fishing and riding his bike.

BodyVox-2 / Membership Manager

Holly was born and raised in northern California, where she began her early ballet training. She has danced with Crockett-Deane Ballet, Sacramento Ballet, Utah Ballet, and Aspen Santa Fe Ballet. Holly graduated in May 2010 from the University of Utah with a BFA in Ballet with emphases in performance and teaching. She has toured internationally to South Korea, Japan, India, and Germany.

Samuel was a university track athlete until he was exposed to dance and switched his major from Mathematics and Computer Science to the Visual and Performing Arts. Samuel has studied on scholarship at the Long Beach Ballet Summer Intensive and the American Dance Festival and has appeared at the American College Dance Festival and the National College Dance Festival.

BodyVox-2 / Teacher

Anna is from Great Falls, Montana. She recently graduated with a BFA in Performance, Teaching, and Character Dance from the University of Utah's Department of Ballet, where she had the opportunity to perform internationally and was honored to receive the "Outstanding Senior" award by faculty for her graduating class. Anna has danced with David Taylor Dance Theatre and is currently working towards her STOTT Pilates certification.

BodyVox-2

Josh began dancing at local studios on the Oregon coast when he was 12. As a teenager he studied at Milwaukee Ballet in Wisconsin and Joffrey Ballet in New York on full scholarship. He attended Brigham Young University on scholarship while being in their Theatre Ballet Company.

BodyVox-2

 Jeff was born and raised in snowy Minnesota. He naturally gravitated to dance and choreography throughout high school. He has trained with Ballet Arts of Minnesota and Broadway Dance Center in New York. He performed on the east coast tour with Sesame Street Live and then moved on to traveling the world for the next 4 years performing on various Royal Caribbean Cruise ships.

Katie began her early training at Jeanne’s School of Dance in her hometown of Chandler, Arizona. She continued her formal training and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Ballet Teaching from the University of Utah in May 2011.

Teachers

A graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts with a degree in dance, Claire has danced professionally both in New York and Portland.  She has traveled the world, opened ¿Por Que No? taqueria with her husband, and found a home teaching dance at Da'Vinci Arts Middle School. Mentored and trained her entire life by Portland choreographer and teacher Tracey Durbin, Claire's passion has always been the mentoring and inspiring of youth in the arts.

Laure Redmond began her career in the fitness industry in the early 1980’s, eventually owning and operating one of New York City’s well-known fitness establishments. She has endorsed dozens of impressive wellness products and has produced and starred in popular DVD workouts, including Mary Tyler Moore’s Everywoman's Workout.

Stephanie Orza started training at the age of 7 with the San Francisco Ballet School as a full scholarship student. In her time there she had the chance to perform with the San Francisco Ballet Company in productions such as La Bayadere, staged by Natalia Makarova, Giselle and The Nutcracker, among many others.

Ms. Mills, a native of Chicago, trained at Ruth Page Foundation under Larry Long, at The Joffrey Ballet School, and the Washington School of Ballet among others. Her professional career included BalletMet, Ballet Iowa, and Eugene Ballet where Brett was a principal dancer.

Renée Adams received her dance training in Yakima, WA under the direction of Phyllis Cyr. She has performed with Spectrum Dance Theater, BodyVox, and tEEth among other dance projects in the Pacific Northwest.

Olivia was born in San Francisco and raised in Portland, Oregon and London. Early training included programs at American Ballet Theater and Boston Ballet. Olivia is an alumnus of the Juilliard School in New York where she performed works by Jose Limon, Ohad Naharin, and Paul Taylor and toured internationally with the Juilliard Ensemble.

Joy Davis hails from Nashville, TN originally and has spent the last ten years making dance and learning about dance in Knoxville, Chicago, and Amsterdam. She was profoundly influenced by Anouk van Dijk and the Countertechnique while studying with her at the American Dance Festival in 2005. Since that summer, Joy has traveled to and lived in the Amsterdam four times to train and study Countertechnique.

James started his ballet training with Ms. Christina Hintz. In 2007 he began instructing childrens classes with Renee Adams. He has danced with Portland Opera, Portland Dance Collaboration, and The Portland Ballet. He is a native Oregonian with a degree in Psychology from PSU.

Eowyn Barrett received her early training from Columbia Dance and the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics. She continued her training at The University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where she studied closely with Dianne Markham and received her BFA in Contemporary Dance.

Bobby Fouther’s career spans over forty years of artistic expression in the Northwest. Filling the roles of producer, director, performer, designer, exhibitor and teacher, his work has influenced thousands of students, peers, and audiences in communities throughout the United States.

Tracey Durbin - After studying years of piano, theater and ballet at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, Tracey moved to Los Angeles. In LA, Tracey studied ballet with Stanely Holden, jazz with Luigi (the innovator of the worlds first jazz technique), and assisted Hama, Luigi's protege.

Teaching Artist

ELIZABETH BURDEN (Teaching Artist) began her dance training at the age of 7 with Joan Shelton Mason in Wenatchee WA.  Upon moving to Portland she continued her training with Jaqueline Schumacher, and then with Barbara Remington.  Elizabeth was granted a scholarship to study in New York with the Joffrey School, then was offered a job with Pacific Ballet Theatre as an apprentice.  Elizabeth danced with PBT, then became a founding member of Oregon Ballet Theatre where she danced for 12 years.

Teacher / Choreographer

One of the Pacific Northwest’s finest choreographers, Josie Moseley has captivated audiences for over 25 years with her solo performances and group pieces set on various artists and companies worldwide.

Kailee McMurran spent her young years moving from town to town across the western coast, ending the majority of her childhood in cold Alaska. She enrolled in dance & gymnastics as a tiny four year old but left dance and focused on flipping for the next eleven years.

Collaborators

MITCHELL ROSE (Filmmaker) is a frequent collaborator with BodyVox—they have now created nine films together. But prior to becoming a filmmaker, Mitchell was a New York-based choreographer specializing in comedic work and was dubbed “the dance world’s Woody Allen” by The New York Times.
