Welcome to the new bodvox.com We are very excited about our new face on the world wide web. Several months in the making, this project has given me a unique opportunity to dig into BodyVox and discover the breadth of its contributions to the community and to see how diverse and unique this organization really is. BodyVox does so many different things that we have divided it into seven catagories as reflected in our menu below: Education + Outreach, Dance Class, BodyVox, On Tour, Dance Center, Contribute and BodyVox-2.
We are first and foremost a dance company, creating new work every year, presenting two home shows a season in Portland and touring overseas and across the country. Browse through BodyVox to learn about our dancers, our history, our repertory and our coming season. On Tour serves as a tool for presenters interested in bringing BodyVox to their cities and venus. It provides details about our current touring repertory and will even allow presenters to download high-resolution photos and marketing templates to use when they promote BodyVox.
Education + Outreach highlights our work within regional communities and schools and provides information for educatiors who are interested in school assemblies, artist -in-residence, master classes and student previews.
Dance Class provides information about our studio classes for kids, teens and adults. This September we will launch an extensive curriculum of classes for students of all ages and experience that reflect BodyVox's unique fusion of classical technique with athleticism, improvisation, acrobatics and performance.
BodyVox-2 is our apprentice company, a second performing and touring branch of BodyVox that not only provides performance opportunities for young, talented dancers but brings BodyVox's signature choreography to theaters and communities that cannot afford or access a BodyVox mainstage show.
Only a small portion of BodyVox's annual budget is covered by ticketsales and tour revenue. The rest is provided through support from individuals, foundations, arts councils and corporate sponsorship. Contribute allows individuals to make online donations to bodyvox and learn about our other support opportunities.
Finally, we are moving this fall to our new home in Northwest Portland, the BodyVox Dance Center. Explore the Dance Center link to learn about the three phased build-out of the center, history and facts, rental opportunites, our building campaing and see photos of the centers progress.
And of course if you have made it here then you have found the BodyBlog. We will post weekly updates on what is happening in BodyVox's world. Check back often to hear from dancers, directors and collaborators as they share stories from the studio, experiences from the road, and commentary on the arts and life in Portland.
Thanks for hanging out with us. Please post comments and thoughts below.
