(Portland, OR) - This October, BodyVox kicks off its 2010-2011 season with BloodyVox: a show that embraces the frightful fun of the company's favorite holiday. This haunting work will debut new choreography from Artistic Directors Jamey Hampton and Ashley Roland, with additional work from Artistic Associate Eric Skinner. Hampton and Roland have also reworked some favorites from the BodyVox repertoire, giving them a chilling twist. The BodyVox classic "Falling for Grace," for instance, is re-imagined as a ghostly visitation that subtly crosses into the realm of horror. A team of thirteen talented dancers (both BodyVox's main performance company and apprentice troupe BodyVox-2) bring the spirit of Halloween to life in this brand new dance theater experience.
Hampton and Roland use every element of the performance and the BodyVox Dance Center to create a fully-conceived environment that will embrace and surprise the audience. With seating that extends three-quarters of the way around the stage, and spooky soundscapes that call to mind the dark corridors of a haunted castle, the dancers make eerie passages through the fourth wall immersing the audience in other-worldly fun.
BloodyVox is full of vampires, spiders, and blood, but don't be too scared! The uplifting spirit characteristic of BodyVox is not lost, and the show is appropriate for fans of all ages. The family matinee performance on October 23rd includes activities specially designed to promise a dreadfully good time for the littlest ghouls and monsters.
BloodyVox tickets go on sale starting September 1, 2010 with ticket prices starting at $20. For tickets or more information, visit www.bodyvox.com, or call (503) 229-0627
