a thousand little cities, created in 2000, is BodyVox’s most distinctly American work. Location, community, family and weather coalesce to propel ‘cities’ through its cycle of hopeful nostalgia and seasoned melancholy. With a blend of dance, film, and visual art, BodyVox’s signature wit is on full display in what The Philadelphia Inquirer says, “…is BodyVox at its outrageous best.”
BodyVox represents one of the best portals for audiences of all ages to access contemporary dance. They use humor, multimedia effects, and the unexpected to energize, entertain, and engage. A refreshing alternative to dance as usual.
~Randy Swartz – Artistic Director, Dance Affiliates, Philadelphia
Collaborating with nationally recognized visual artist and playwright Tad Savinar and award winning filmmaker Mitchell Rose, BodyVox has created a multidisciplinary joyride with film, text, visual elements and BodyVox’s trademark freewheeling movement style. Using location and weather as a point of departure, a thousand little cities provides a journey through the human landscape.
a thousand little cities tours with 8-9 dancers and 2 technicians. Includes Outreach.
