The 2009-10 season will showcase the touring debut of BodyVox’s original show Water Bodies, a dynamic multimedia exploration of the many facets of water. Artistic Directors Jamey Hampton and Ashley Roland chose water as the take off point for the show because it is essential and endlessly variable. They found it inspiring to think of water in dance terms, and dance in water terms, sometimes literally, sometimes referentially. Water as medium, water as force, water as a harbinger of disaster and promise.
Water Bodies was co-commissioned by White Bird in 2004. In the spring of 2008 Water Bodies played for a full week at the Los Angeles Music Center, performing for 35,000 kids as the focus of their annual Children's Festival. In the fall of 2009 Water Bodies will tour to Pennsylvania and the Annenberg Center in Philadelphia. This show is appropriate for all ages and may be performed with or without live music.
Water Bodies tours with 7-9 dancers and 2 technicians. Outreach Included.
